About this tool
A tree view shows JSON as a hierarchy you can expand and collapse. It is the quickest way to understand a large API response: fold away the branches you do not need and focus on one part of the data.
Why use a JSON tree viewer?
Nested data is much easier to understand as a hierarchy. In the tree you can fold away the parts you do not need and focus on one branch, which makes large API responses far quicker to read than raw text.
Working with large JSON
Branches are only built when you open them, and long lists load 100 items at a time with a Show more button, so multi-megabyte files stay responsive. Expand all opens the first four levels.
Labels such as Array[3] and Object{5} show how many items or keys a branch holds, so you can judge its size before opening it.
How to use it
- Paste your JSON.
- Click any object or array to collapse or expand it.
- Use Expand all and Collapse all to change the whole tree.
Frequently asked questions
What do Array[3] and Object{5} mean?
Array[3] is an array with three items; Object{5} is an object with five keys.
Can I copy values?
Yes. Select any text in the tree and copy it.
Is there a size limit?
Only your browser memory. Several megabytes of JSON is fine on most devices.
